Late Sickener For Dumbarton In Challenge Cup Final

Written by on March 24, 2018

A stoppage-time goal by Carl Tremarco gave Inverness CT victory over Dumbarton in the Scottish Challenge Cup final.

Tremarco netted from close range minutes after team-mate Iain Vigurs had a penalty saved.

The match was played at neutral St Johnstone FC and a good crowd travelled up to Perth from Dumbarton and surrounding areas, the Sons even had support from Switzerland and Ireland in the crowd.

Dumbarton, playing in their first national cup final for 121 years, struggled to create openings but it looked like they were about to earn extra time in Perth.

2015 Scottish Cup winners Inverness Caley Thistle win the Challenge Cup for a second time, having first triumphed in 2003.
