Spartans Put Pressure on East Kilbride In SPFL Bid

Written by on March 24, 2018

Spartans put the pressure on East Kilbride at the top of the Lowland League by drawing level on points with EK on Saturday, the Edinburgh club now have a game in hand on last season’s Pyramid play off runners up as the final sprint to the Championship gets underway next weekend.

Spartans won 2-1 at Whitehill Welfare on March 24 while East Kilbride did not play.

Lowland League winners play Highland League Champs at the end of the season with the winners of that play off tie facing the bottom club in League 2 over two legs for a place in the SPFL.

East Kilbride lost last season’s play off final to Cowdenbeath on penalties after beating Cove Rangers in the semi final.

Despite a recent revival on the pitch, with two wins and a draw in their last three league fixtures, it is likely the Fife club will once again fight for their SPFL survival at the end of the current campaign against an ambitious non-league outfit.
