Klopp Says Van Dijk Coveted Anfield Move – Rock Sport

German manager of Liverpool Jurgen Klopp admits Virgil van Dijk’s burning desire to join the reds was key to beating off strong competition for the £75million defender

Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal were also keen on the Dutch centre-back but he made it clear to Southampton that his heart was set on playing for Klopp.

Klopp said: ” He wanted to come here 100 per cent, it might sound corny but Liverpool was the only English club he wanted to play for after he left Southampton and that is very nice.”

Celtic will recieve a windfall from the Dutchman’s transfer from the south coast to Anfield and Klopp said ” the market dictates what club’s pay for players so although it may not be nice that is where we are. ”
