What’s brewing at both Ibrox and Parkhead ahead of the big one on Saturday [ Kick Off 12 Noon ]

Rangers defender Danny Wilson admits few people give his side a chance against Celtic on Saturday, but insists the Ibrox men are not going to Parkhead to simply “make up the numbers”.

Celtic seem unstoppable on their way to yet another Scottish Premiership title but Wilson says ” in derbies form books go out the window more often than not.”

Rangers are preparing a January move for 31-year-old Norwich City and Scotland defender Russell Martin, who has been told he can leave the Carrow Road outfit next month.

Ibrox manager Graeme Murty wants to get his January transfer business done as quickly as possible, with Rangers heading to the USA to play in the Florida Cup during the winter break.

Murty hopes to have his new assistant beside him in the dugout for Rangers’ trip to Celtic on Saturday.

Former Rangers striker Kane Hemmings reckons the club would do well to sign up West Brom teenager Tyler Roberts, who has been linked with a move to Ibrox this week.

Celtic have been handed a huge boost ahead of the January transfer window as one of manager Brendan Rodger’s summer targets Steven Caulker has been released by Queen Park Rangers.

The 25-year-old was linked with a Hoops switch in July as a reunion between the Rodgers and his former Swansea charge was being mulled over.

However, nothing worked out as the troubled centre-back continued with the English Championship side.

Rodgers said of Caulker back in summer when asked about any chance of signing him: “We spoke at length about his life and his situation and just where he is at. He is a boy that, if he can get it together and find a peace, then he is an awesome talent. ”

Celtic start firm favourites ahead of Saturday’s Old Firm encounter.
